Situation

Florida Community College, Jacksonville, Florida, needed help with their Advanced Technology Center. PCS bid on the work and won.

This involved coordinating all phases of construction in order to implement select technology at just the right time—as well as LAN coordination with the IT staff and an AMX NetLinx system.

The entire project called for installation and integration of 16 Advanced Technology Classrooms, a Videoconferencing/Teaching Room, and a 50-seat Seminar Room with a dual-projection system, all linked via AMX NetLinx. It was no small undertaking.

Solution

Our installation staff worked closely to forge great relationships with the many contractors involved in this project, which was fundamental to the project’s success. PCS collaborated closely with the IT group regarding the details of LAN, fiber, and the crucial connection points.

We also carefully coordinated installation of the AV equipment with the general contractor to ensure that the equipment was installed only after the sheetrock, sanding, and painting was completed. This approach allowed our client to reduce the likelihood of environmental problems, such as dust and dirt, and protect their investment.

Results

PCS finished the integration and installation of a very large and complex system, including multiple rooms, flawlessly. And the Advanced Technology Center looks the part.
